Friday, June 9, 2023

Abstract: Applied statistics and data science are playing key roles in the emerging area of climate risk analytics which focuses on quantifying how the impacts of perils such as flood, wind, heat, and fire are evolving in a changing climate. In this talk, I will present an overview of climate risk analytics, generating physical hazard data, and highlighting computational pipelines, extremes and machine learning. I will also provide some examples of how companies and other organizations are using climate risk analytics to help assess and manage climate change-related risk.
